AQUALITEK Electrodeionization (EDI) Water Purification Systems
AQUALITEK Electrodeionization (EDI) Water Purification Systems
Overview
AQUALITEK offers a complete product category of electrodeionization (EDI) water purification system solutions designed to produce continuous ultrapure water without chemical regeneration. Combining ion-exchange technology, ion-selective membranes and electrical current, our EDI systems provide consistent high-purity output with low operating costs, ideal for processes that demand reliability, scalability and minimal environmental impact.
How EDI Works
Electrodeionization integrates ion exchange resins and ion-selective membranes under an applied direct current to remove residual ions from feed water after reverse osmosis (RO) pretreatment. The process continuously regenerates ion-exchange sites in situ, enabling stable conductivity and total organic carbon (TOC) control. This electro-driven mechanism reduces chemical use and simplifies operation compared with traditional mixed-bed polishing.
Key Benefits
AQUALITEK EDI systems deliver measurable advantages: consistently low conductivity and high resistivity, reduced chemical consumption, compact footprint, low maintenance requirements and excellent water recovery rates. Built with High Quality components and smart control logic, our systems ensure reliable performance, energy efficiency and predictable lifecycle costs for laboratory, pharmaceutical, microelectronics and power generation applications.
Applications & Custom Solutions
Our EDI product line serves residential, commercial and industrial clients. Typical applications include ultrapure water for laboratories, pharmaceutical production, semiconductor rinsing, boiler feedwater polishing and medical device cleaning. AQUALITEK engineers tailor each electrodeionization (EDI) water purification system to your feedwater profile, flow rate and purity targets, integrating pre-treatment, RO and post-treatment where needed.

Can ion exchange work with seawater or high-TDS water?
Ion exchange is more suitable for low to moderate TDS water. High-TDS applications often use RO as a primary treatment.
Can I use AQT’s water treatment systems for seawater desalination?
Yes! We provide seawater desalination systems using advanced reverse osmosis (RO) technology, specifically designed to convert seawater into fresh, drinkable water. These systems are ideal for coastal communities, marine applications, and industrial desalination projects.
Can I automate the filter cleaning process?
Absolutely. Our automatic backwash filters come with timer-based or differential pressure-triggered controls.
How long does a water softener system last?
Most systems last 10–15 years with proper maintenance. Resin beads may need replacement after 8–10 years.
How often should I replace filters and membranes?
Filter and membrane lifespan depends on water quality, usage, and system type. General guidelines:
1. Sediment & Carbon Filters: Replace every 6–12 months.
2. RO Membranes: Replace every 2–3 years, depending on water conditions.
3. UF/NF Membranes: Replace every 1–2 years.
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and water quality.
